Q: Who is eligible for the State Forest Service (ACF/Forest Ranger) exam?
A: Generally, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, etc.), Agriculture, or Engineering are eligible. The age limit usually ranges from 21 to 33–40 years, depending on your state (e.g., MPPSC allows up to 40 for certain categories).
Q: Can I apply if I have a B.A. or B.Com degree?
A: No. SFS positions are technical roles. You must have a background in Science, Engineering, or related technical fields to be eligible.
Q: Which optional subjects should I choose for the SFS Mains?
A: Most students opt for the Zoology and Botany combination because the syllabus overlaps significantly with their graduation studies. Other popular choices include Forestry, Agriculture, and Environmental Science.
Q: I have never studied Forestry. Is it difficult to prepare?

A: The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) usually takes place after you clear the Written Mains exam and before the Final Interview.
