FAQs
Q: What is the eligibility criteria for UGC NET Geography?
To be eligible, you must have a Master’s degree in Geography or related fields (like Population Studies, Regional Planning, or Environmental Science) with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender). Final-year PG students are also provisionally eligible.
Q: Is there an age limit for the exam?

For JRF (Junior Research Fellowship): The upper age limit is 30 years (as of the first day of the exam month). Relaxations up to 5 years are available for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Women and candidates with research experience.

For Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit.
Q: Can I apply for both JRF and Assistant Professor?
Yes. While filling out the application form, you can opt for both. If you qualify for JRF, you are automatically eligible for Assistant Professor roles as well.
Q: What is the structure of the UGC NET Geography exam?
The exam consists of two papers held in a single 3-hour session (Computer-Based Test):

Q: Is there negative marking in the exam?
No, there is no negative marking. Each correct answer carries 2 marks.
Q: What are the minimum qualifying marks?

General/EWS: 40% aggregate in both papers.

Reserved Categories: 35% aggregate in both papers.

Note: Qualifying marks only make you eligible for the merit list; the actual cut-off for JRF is much higher.
